Do you need attention? Well of course you do, that’s normal for us human beings. Attention sounds easy to get when you need it but oftentimes it is harder to get it especially from people who we want to get noticed to. We all vary in the attention we need and extreme deficiency of attention is known to be a disorder.
Why We Need Attention
We need attention because:
- It makes us feel alive.
- It makes us feel important.
- It gives us role and part of the social environment.
- It makes us feel not alone.
- It lets us show off skills, talents, and abilities.
- It is a foundation of communication.
Attention Scarcity In Our Personal Lives
There are times when we observe that people around us are demanding too much of our time. They usually are our online friends, our business colleagues and even family members. When they are not on our priority, we tend to tell them "we’re busy" or perhaps deprive them the attention they need for something else. There is some attention scarcity going on especially because wiser people tend to do what is necessary where they can be productive and where they find satisfaction to their efforts. The problem is that everyone has its own motive and mindset, resulting variable needs of attention and complicated scenarios. Self-control is a basic solution for this. If you train yourself to exhibit your need of attention in a good way rather than stealing attention in an unethical ways (which tend to be the fastest way to get attention), then your key is creativity.
Concept Of Attention In Business
In business, the concept of attention is somewhat identical to our personal lives. Let’s say for instance that you’re a CEO of a company and you have skilled people under you, you will still need to give them (managers down to your operational employees) your time. This does not mean you have to talk to all of your employees heart to heart. By simply asking them how they are doing with their jobs when you walk across your office, talking with them, greeting them or smiling at them during breaks, it will have a significant effect on how these employees work. As a person from the executive level, your goal is to encourage and boost the morale of all people to be fully productive with their work. Any opposing chance will always be against your corporate goals.
The concept of the attention comes down to the company’s economic outputs as well: services and products. Even if a company is extremely productive, the intensity of benefits will not be as much as the one who are able to entice and convince people to try their services or buy their products. This is where the concept of advertising, comes in to attempt meet the needs of companies to put their goods and services in the public spotlight. The more people who notice your products or services, the higher the chance getting customers and clients especially when all other factors are good.

Although we must play the part to understand people in high position who are less sensitive enough to see small achievements, we must also find good ways to make them realize the impact of having attention. It is important because it makes us happy and contented with our job — and these things drive people to be more productive and satisfied.
