I’ve written many web hosting articles in the past 12 months until my life has gone super busy with my web development main job, and the existence of my tech news show, Tech Conclave. Today, I’ve decided to update myself with the latest in the web hosting industry and I found this website called Web Hosting Geeks. Certainly, the site captured me because of its "geek" word. Like what I always say at Tech Conclave: it’s good to be a geek.

So, in their home page, they have a list of best web hosting companies for 2009. In my opinion, the top web hosts listed there are the ones who have established themselves in the web hosting industry since ages. People who are new to web hosting could easily be convinced that the top has the best value for your money. Certainly not. Remember, big companies have better funds to initiate a massive marketing. However, looking at the site’s reputation (and Internet marketing parameters), it seems to me most of the web hosts listed there are reputable. Now, that’s just a tip.

Back to Web Hosting Geeks, their website presents neat hosting categories for specific hosting platforms and purposes. In addition to the top ranking for each year, you can view lists of web hosts sorted according to the type of services they offer (e.g., Unix Hosting, Blog Hosting, VPS Hosting, and many others), according to type of web hosting (e.g., dedicated server, green hosting, multiple domain hosting), according to web hosting rating, or come up with the result of web hosting companies according to the awards they have received.

If you feel like you need to familiarize yourself with the web hosting terms and/or you want tips and tricks, they also have useful web hosting blogs you can immerse into.

Presently, this blog is currently hosted at Top Hosting Center, running over their Speedy hosting plan. My show’s website, Tech Conclave, is hosted at Host Color.

Hi everyone. Sorry, I wasn’t able to write for my own personal blog for a couple of weeks due to high workload that I have with my main job, my tech news show, Tech Conclave, the Global Geek News Patrol,...

Hi everyone. Sorry, I wasn’t able to write for my own personal blog for a couple of weeks due to high workload that I have with my main job, my tech news show, Tech Conclave, the Global Geek News Patrol, and Tech Webcast.

Speaking of Tech Conclave at the time of this writing, I’m now working on our eighth episode, the first to start in a weekly basis, and I’m very happy at this point because Episode 7 was a success (probably because of the new microphone). It earned honors at YouTube.com and I earned some new friends from other places in the world. The exciting point of the show is its social aspect: every episode I am self-mandated to hunt for a Geek of the Week online.

I have several personal complaints with the show though: my Internet is slow and video editing is choking my laptop! The system that I use to work on the video is truly not meant for video editing and I need something better and faster. I believe I’m only limited by the systems and resources that I have, not what I can do out from my ideas or motivation since I’m full of it. I’m looking now for sponsors and if you have suggestions, please let me know.

On the side, I’m also working on several websites for survival. As far as you know, I only earn like $200 a month and that’s a pain because my bills eat more than half of that and considering that I work like around the clock each day. I’m hoping that Tech Conclave would escalate and my hard work be recognized: I am doing my best for it and I spend many restless nights to bring great episodes for the world. So if you can, please support my show. Your $1 donation can help me a lot or if you don’t want to offer monetary help, there are things you can do to support Tech Conclave like subscribing to our official YouTube account, spreading the word to your friends and to tell your friends to tell their friends, and registering at Tech Conclave website.

Thanks for reading this and for your time. I’ll try to do more and become even more productive. In some ways, I truly need your help.

Just a month ago I launched a tech news show (or video podcast) through YouTube called Tech Conclave. In this show, I work as the host, news anchor, and video producer with my geek friends worldwide as my news reporters.

The community forum is also aimed to add interaction with my audience and help them as well if they have technical difficulties with today’s gadgets, questions about technologies, or simply helping them with their computer issues.

If you have watched the previous episodes of my tech news show (click here to watch them if you haven’t), I urge you to register yourself in the forum community, support my show, and be part of our tech conclave. It takes only one minute to make me happy and also I will give you opportunity to help and be helped by other members. You can also meet new friends there which adds excitement to the forum.

Should you decide to register, please introduce yourself in the "Introduce Yourself" section (hehehe, makes sense) and let us know what you do, who you are, and in what way are you inclined with technology.

Tech Conclave tech news show is currently independent and not funded by anyone.

My plan has finally materialized by the launch of Tech Conclave’s first episode. Tech Conclave as what I wanted it to be is a tech news show that welcomes people from all walks of life who want to be up-to-date...

My plan has finally materialized by the launch of Tech Conclave’s first episode. Tech Conclave as what I wanted it to be is a tech news show that welcomes people from all walks of life who want to be up-to-date with the developments of information and communications technologies,
those who want to express their passion on this field, and participate tech events with computer geeks and enthusiasts.

Tech Conclave reignites journalism history

Everything started with my involvement to podcasting with Brad from Melbourne in our tech program called Tech Webcast, which I explicitly mentioned in my previous post. Tech Webcast exposed me to some of popular tech geeks online and brought back my interest with journalism. Due to my affinity with computers and technology, and great inspiration with existing and fully-developed tech news shows on the Internet, I came up an idea of creating my own style and that led to the creation of Tech Conclave.

Back in my high school years, I was very active with campus journalism with I got acquainted with journalism code of ethics and philosophies. My team championed in a Division Secondary Schools Press Conference (DSSPC) for a radio broadcasting event. I also used to be our school paper’s editorial cartoonist, sports editor, copyreader and headline writer, and I founded Alternative Newsmagazine (ANM), an independent newsletter in our school, where I served as Editor in Chief. Due to such involvements, I was given a Service Award in Journalism during my high school graduation day.

What’s ahead of Tech Conclave?

Besides discussion of sensible technology news and current events, I want Tech Conclave to touch the life of every geek that I know of and who wants to be connected with me, on the Internet. Starting Episode 2, I will feature one geek per episode and take a glimpse of a geek’s lifestyle, tech expertise, and computer engine (or control center), with their permission.

My geek friends, some of them became significant in my life in 2008, are working with me in developing Tech Conclave. New things will come along the way as I shape the program based on my ideas and audience demands.

What about Tech Webcast?

I just want to make it clear that I will still be hosting with Brad with Tech Webcast. Though its lousy format needs changes, we are planning to reformat the program in such a way that it will parallel the quality of its video counterpart, Tech Conclave, and interoperate with it. Tech Webcast provides us more freedom to discuss technology issues, trends and affairs that is not possible with the linear format of Tech Conclave.

You can watch the first episode of Tech Conclave by following this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0RQveWmtoM

Please subscribe leave a comment, rate the video and make it as a favorite if you like it. It will help boost my motivation to better episodes in the future and you’ll be happy to be part of it.

First of all, I want to tell you that I got nothing special this Christmas, materially-talking.

I wrote this post because I was compelled to after seeing the great video of my tech whiz friend from Melbourne, Australia named Chris Morris. As a member of a very large community worldwide that is composed of insanely knowledgeable people who just can’t get off their computers even for a day (a.k.a. Computer Geek), here is my wish list with what I want to have or get in order to comply with techno lusts:

A Bed, A Life

New <strike>Apple</strike> Laptop With Discrete Graphics Card

A Tech Job Abroad

More <strike>Geek</strike> Friends

Netbook/Mobile Computer Phone

While year 2008 has brought many good things to me as a self-proclaimed geek, I’ve always wished to have the things I’ve enlisted above this December. You might be a little surprised as to why that is but I’ll have more relevant and substantial explanations by explaining why a geek like me need those things. And yes, these things are too much to ask.

A Bed and A Life <strike>And A Life In The Bed</strike>

Now don’t take that extremely literally. Well, I listed bed as the number one on my list because I’ve been sleeping on the floor for 21 years. I couldn’t express how happy I was when I got my own room this year after 21 years. Although I still sleep on the floor using a mat, I can’t stand anymore excessive self-pity and I finally realized that I don’t deserve to have my back aching against the concrete floor. It’s never fun. Until now, sleeping on my own bed is still an imagination. When I get my bed, I will work next on getting a life. Geeks and computer enthusiasts are prone to get strangled with the cyber world to a point that they sometimes forget that the real-world is great and full of adventure. Being said that, I want to have a life (a better life or to be precise a romantic life). Oh well, I already have a romantic life while I’m working on line — but hell, it’s not mutual. Being around and being able to express the person you love (emotionally and physically) how it feels to be with a romantic geek is a dream come true next to a successful hacking.

New <strike>Apple</strike> Laptop With Discrete Graphics Card

Two years ago I jumped to the roof when I acquired my first laptop ever: a shiny Neo-branded laptop that is unknown to the world, runs with Windows Vista Home Premium and with fair specs. After my several attempts to beef up its performance (e.g., increased the RAM to 3GB, acquired external HDD to increase disk space and take advantage of Vista’s Readyboost technology), the result has never been truly rewarding. The laptop has no discrete graphics card — a major drawback. While I’m happy that I was able to do most of the professional work I am indulged into, there are many things for myself that prevents me from exploring my capabilities or talents further just because my system doesn’t allow me so. That’s why I joined the HP Magic Giveaway contest this month in an effort to win but well, I wasn’t selected so getting a high-end or mid-range laptop will do justice. Basically, if I will be able to get a new one next year, I will pass my current laptop to my brother and allow him to boom in the Information Technology world.

A Tech Job Abroad

Believe me when I tell you that Philippines is one of the best destinations in the world to retire. Why so? Dollars will go beyond its worth here, the weather is good and tropical, there are many good places without spending too much, and you can live with people that are so warmhearted. My only problem here is that the country doesn’t perfectly fit with my personal views regarding the world which tends to more liberated, and secondly, the pay here is not good unless you are in a good position. Likewise, there is no other place like home so the best idea for me is to earn money outside the Philippines and invest or spend it inwards. For a hard-core technology enthusiast like me, that matters a lot. With dollar-based money, in the Philippines it means more gadgets, better computer specs, and all those kind of stuffs. A tech job abroad is the solution that I see to make my life more exciting and meeting people of different cultures sounds like fun.

More <strike>Geek</strike> Friends

This year I gained new friends that I would like to keep for life. In fact, most of them will receive Christmas cards from me in January (duh, snail mails). I never thought I could find good friends online as like-minded as me. I want to keep them because they add more meaning to my life and cyber life and probably an opportunity as well to do joint ventures in the future. Who knows? So, I’ll just keep them coming. If you are a geek and you want to be my friend, just contact me and I will welcome you to the jungle with open arms. Without malice.

Netbook/Mobile Computer Phone

The last wish item on my list this Christmas is to have a netbook (those little laptops you commonly see there at the computer shops) AND/OR an equivalent mobile computer phone. Why? I am planning to be more on the field one day without losing my ability to do work on the computer. I am a computer person and I need to get connected to the Internet all the time, anytime to be able to do my profession. I work as a web developer, Internet marketer, a business partner — and I wear different hats to all my Web-based professions — so imagine how life would suck if there’s a day when I can’t connect to cyber world. A netbook AND/OR a mobile computer phone (a high-end one) would do justice.
