Brother’s Trip To Japan And His New Laptop

Published by johnraul under Little Moments

DSCN2504As I write this post, my brother is currently in Osaka, Japan, participating a student cultural exchange program that aims to strengthen the relationship of Japan and its neighboring nations. He is very lucky to be chosen as one of ten participants sent to Japan to attend the program. And hey, it’s an all-expense paid program with allowance! Well, personally I must say that it wasn’t out of luck, he’s a smart person and deserves what he is experiencing now. Just like me, he also experienced a good part of his life sleeping on the floor. Both of us are strongly motivated to succeed through our cultivated minds and grateful for our parents who honed us to be creative and strong-willed.

My Wish List As A Geek This Christmas

Published by johnraul under To Geek Or Not To Geek

First of all, I want to tell you that I got nothing special this Christmas, materially-talking.

I wrote this post because I was compelled to after seeing the great video of my tech whiz friend from Melbourne, Australia named Chris Morris. As a member of a very large community worldwide that is composed of insanely knowledgeable people who just can’t get off their computers even for a day (a.k.a. Computer Geek), here is my wish list with what I want to have or get in order to comply with techno lusts:

  1. A Bed, A Life
  2. New Apple Laptop With Discrete Graphics Card
  3. A Tech Job Abroad
  4. More Geek Friends
  5. Netbook/Mobile Computer Phone

While year 2008 has brought many good things to me as a self-proclaimed geek, I’ve always wished to have the things I’ve enlisted above this December. You might be a little surprised as to why that is but I’ll have more relevant and substantial explanations by explaining why a geek like me need those things. And yes, these things are too much to ask.

Assemble Yourself An External Mobile SATA Drive

Published by johnraul under Computers and Laptops

No matter how fast the hard disk drive technologies are improving and no matter how you imagine about how big your hard drive now, time will always come that you will feel your disk space is not enough. If you are into collecting music, photos, video files and movies, and computer games, you’ll definitely eat your hard disk’s free space more rapidly than anyone who does only chatting and working with office programs. Plus, if you have a mobile life, a regular secondary hard disk won’t do, or a typical USB flash drive — they’ll not be enough. In this case, I recommend that you assemble an external mobile SATA hard drive. It’s big, it’s fast, and you can take it anywhere.

"Your Hard Disk Is Full, Visit A Computer Shop Soon"

Published by johnraul under Computers and Laptops

Oh, it has been months since the last time I visited a computer shop to buy something. I am pretty sure that my computer system, my devices and gadgets are now behind the new releases. The pace of technology indeed is very frustrating and costly to chase as newer devices proliferate with better lineup of features in just a number of days or months since you last bought the latest product.

My Workplace In The Corner Of The World

Published by johnraul under Little Moments

For almost six months, I’ve dwelled and worked alone at home. I used to work in an IT company before where I reported (and even slept for a month) in the office, but I just don’t feel my future there – so I quit. Today, my job is good not just because it pays better than the previous one, but especially because the people whom I am working with, and the person whom I am working for, cares for me a lot.

Well anyway, before I get emotional, if you are wondering where I write my blog articles and do my work in the day, the picture below best describes it.

My Workplace

As you can see, my workplace is not that great. I work outside the house so I could see the nice morning, breathe fresh air, and watch animals and people passing nearby. I tried to put things in my workplace in an effort to make it look cool. As of this writing, it constitutes the following:

2007: One Of The Best Years I Ever Had

Published by johnraul under Little Moments

Unlike the previous years, 2007 rapidly changed so many things in my life. These things made 2007 one of the best years I ever had. Wondered why? Below is the outline of what happened in the past 12 months:

January 2007

  • I completed my thesis writing together with my mates, Michael Andrew Geralde and Jive Gerard Medina.
  • I worked for Eric Pangburn with his websites, written lots of articles (I always like to mention that he is 6′8″ tall, don’t know why). The result of the job? I got an Internet connection at my place and some writing experience.
