Hi everyone. Sorry, I wasn’t able to write for my own personal blog for a couple of weeks due to high workload that I have with my main job, my tech news show, Tech Conclave, the Global Geek News Patrol,...

Hi everyone. Sorry, I wasn’t able to write for my own personal blog for a couple of weeks due to high workload that I have with my main job, my tech news show, Tech Conclave, the Global Geek News Patrol, and Tech Webcast.

Speaking of Tech Conclave at the time of this writing, I’m now working on our eighth episode, the first to start in a weekly basis, and I’m very happy at this point because Episode 7 was a success (probably because of the new microphone). It earned honors at YouTube.com and I earned some new friends from other places in the world. The exciting point of the show is its social aspect: every episode I am self-mandated to hunt for a Geek of the Week online.

I have several personal complaints with the show though: my Internet is slow and video editing is choking my laptop! The system that I use to work on the video is truly not meant for video editing and I need something better and faster. I believe I’m only limited by the systems and resources that I have, not what I can do out from my ideas or motivation since I’m full of it. I’m looking now for sponsors and if you have suggestions, please let me know.

On the side, I’m also working on several websites for survival. As far as you know, I only earn like $200 a month and that’s a pain because my bills eat more than half of that and considering that I work like around the clock each day. I’m hoping that Tech Conclave would escalate and my hard work be recognized: I am doing my best for it and I spend many restless nights to bring great episodes for the world. So if you can, please support my show. Your $1 donation can help me a lot or if you don’t want to offer monetary help, there are things you can do to support Tech Conclave like subscribing to our official YouTube account, spreading the word to your friends and to tell your friends to tell their friends, and registering at Tech Conclave website.

Thanks for reading this and for your time. I’ll try to do more and become even more productive. In some ways, I truly need your help.

My plan has finally materialized by the launch of Tech Conclave’s first episode. Tech Conclave as what I wanted it to be is a tech news show that welcomes people from all walks of life who want to be up-to-date with the developments of information and communications technologies,
those who want to express their passion on this field, and participate tech events with computer geeks and enthusiasts.

Tech Conclave reignites journalism history

Everything started with my involvement to podcasting with Brad from Melbourne in our tech program called Tech Webcast, which I explicitly mentioned in my previous post. Tech Webcast exposed me to some of popular tech geeks online and brought back my interest with journalism. Due to my affinity with computers and technology, and great inspiration with existing and fully-developed tech news shows on the Internet, I came up an idea of creating my own style and that led to the creation of Tech Conclave.

Back in my high school years, I was very active with campus journalism with I got acquainted with journalism code of ethics and philosophies. My team championed in a Division Secondary Schools Press Conference (DSSPC) for a radio broadcasting event. I also used to be our school paper’s editorial cartoonist, sports editor, copyreader and headline writer, and I founded Alternative Newsmagazine (ANM), an independent newsletter in our school, where I served as Editor in Chief. Due to such involvements, I was given a Service Award in Journalism during my high school graduation day.

What’s ahead of Tech Conclave?

Besides discussion of sensible technology news and current events, I want Tech Conclave to touch the life of every geek that I know of and who wants to be connected with me, on the Internet. Starting Episode 2, I will feature one geek per episode and take a glimpse of a geek’s lifestyle, tech expertise, and computer engine (or control center), with their permission.

My geek friends, some of them became significant in my life in 2008, are working with me in developing Tech Conclave. New things will come along the way as I shape the program based on my ideas and audience demands.

What about Tech Webcast?

I just want to make it clear that I will still be hosting with Brad with Tech Webcast. Though its lousy format needs changes, we are planning to reformat the program in such a way that it will parallel the quality of its video counterpart, Tech Conclave, and interoperate with it. Tech Webcast provides us more freedom to discuss technology issues, trends and affairs that is not possible with the linear format of Tech Conclave.

You can watch the first episode of Tech Conclave by following this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0RQveWmtoM

Please subscribe leave a comment, rate the video and make it as a favorite if you like it. It will help boost my motivation to better episodes in the future and you’ll be happy to be part of it.

Previously I have mentioned that me and my online friend Brad from Melbourne have decided to launch a podcast program called Tech Webcast. Well, the program is not actually exclusive to us (in fact, I only did a few episodes). The good thing was that it united some Aussie, Filipino and American self-proclaimed geeks and made the program touch a wide range of topics from computer, current events, up to personal lives of hosts. That being said, Brad and I made Episode 8 of Tech Webcast in the past week.

So, here’s what we did it: Brad called me out of the blue in an afternoon on Skype and said we’re going to do a podcast for Tech Webcast’s Episode 8 – and so I decided to go for it as I wasn’t so busy during that time. The problem was that we had no solid outline of topics to discuss. So what we did is that we just picked randomly the things what we have in mind and elaborate them. Good thing that I recently went to a mall’s arcade center so I had something to share. Plus, I remembered trying VMware Workstation software and played Linux Ubuntu and Windows XP Service Pack 3 Professional with it so I already got good things to discuss about. Have a listen below:

As you’ve heard, episode 8 turned out to be a funny podcast! I was laughing at myself when I heard this recording for the first time especially on several portions where Brad tried to stop me from talking a lot. Honestly, I was not able to clearly hear him saying “stop” from my side and I just kept talking like crazy. The most hilarious part on the podcast is the part where Brad said that we didn’t get “too many emails” on our official podcast email – and then I replied innocently and seriously “That’s good, that’s good” and Brad laughed and said, “Not really.” The quality of our podcast is not that great as we have done our podcast through Skype.

I invite you to listen to all other episodes that we have.

I was very happy to know that my online friend Brad from Melbourne, Australia, finally got a web hosting account. Since 2006, he has been actively blogging using WordPress.com’s free blogging service. He finally broke that record when he decided to purchase a Rudolf Mini hosting plan from Top Hosting Center. Now, he names his blog “Brad’s Blog” dot ORG and it appears crappy for the moment but will improve over time. It’s really weird for me because he chose to register for a .ORG than to pick another domain name (the .NET and .COM versions of his domain were already taken, which could have been better).

If you want to know how I met Brad, well it happened last year when I was broadcasting at Justin dot Com and he stumbled on my video channel. You can read a brief story of how we met in my previous post where he ranked #8 as one of the top people of my life last year.

Being a tech enthusiast who honestly doesn’t know much yet about more technical things as I do, he aspires to become a figure similar to Chris Pirillo, Zane Savage and all other geeks-for-show personalities on the Web – of course, with his own style. Why not when, since last year, he has been gradually acquiring a lot of gadgets and computer things that made me drool so much. He started with a single laptop when I first knew him; now he owns several gadgets and equipped with dual-screened LCD monitors and stuffs that could expose him into greater learning through actual experience than me.

That being said, he is planning to start a podcast program every week and guess what? He wants me to host with him! LOL That’s quite a cool combination right there.

We’ve jointly setup Twitter and other social network accounts in preparation for this. He’s pretty good on marketing side and he was able to allure people to follow this podcast’s official Twitter account. The start of our Podcast appears to be rough this week as I am drowned with a lot of priority work to survive. We call our program Tech Webcast and hopefully it will be in good path soon. I will be talking about hosting stuffs and programming if I can so please participate check it out if you have time.
